I've had my 1982 733i for about a year - love it. But just had airconditioning system repaired (broken hose, needed freon - $250 in mostly labor) and now the air is not what I would call cool. In fact, it would be cooler to roll the windows down. Before I get into it with my mechanic - any suggestions for lowering air temp/ strengthening airflow? I live in So. California and I'm starting to sweat.
Thanks. |

I've had continuing problems with the air in my 733i, and have found most of them due to leaks and valve failures in the vacuum-operated part of the system. I don't know if your 82 has an electrically operated vacuum pump for the system, but if it does, I'd start there. Check to see if the fresh-air vent flaps close when you turn the air cond on. They should, but commonly fail due to leakes in the hoses and vacuum actuaters. The vacuum controls for the air cond is a real bag of worms, and can take a LOT of time to troubleshoot and repair.
Good luck...... |
