Think that Hastert guy had a hand in giving such a steep charge to a man throwing a waterballoon? Seriously now, this is just getting petty. 1 more reason I dislike politicians..

Two things. He didn't press charges. The prosecutor did. The guy has a history of assaults (though throwing a water balloon is hardly to that level). The charges will probably not amount to more then a fine for most people, but because this guy has committed other crimes (clearly more serious ones) he won't just get a slap on the wrist. Nobody is making to big a deal out of this - yet.

When setting bail and charges, criminal history can indeed be used. I do agree that the level of charges is way out of line with what happened, but considering the guys history, there may have been more maliciousness then what we have seen. If I were pegged with a water balloon in that situation, I'd want to see the asshole get at least fined for it.
As for him being an asshole in the administration - he's not in the administration. He's in the House of Representatives (as the speaker). He was elected to that position while Clinton was in office. You would be more accurate in just saying hes a republican and you hate republicans. This administration nor any other has nothing to do with it. Throwing a water balloon??? That's pretty lame.
What about when Cretein strangled that guy a few years back? Shouldn't the door swing both ways? I think Cretein would be a very welcome individual in jail.  :22yikes:
