The truth about high wattage bulbs (Rant)

first off a standard 9005->9006 conversion will cause no harness melting problems, from a 55w->65w, now if your stupid like that other genious who put in a 100watt bulb in the low beam? your asking to be smashed in the head with a led pipe and a auto bill. literally. BTW. high wattage color bulbs are not bright! a 100watt standard halogen is 15x Brighter than a NOKYA 100watt, because the higher the wattage on the aftermarket bulbs, The more color coating they have, meaning they are putting out alot less light, i prefer to stick with my piaas (Spark 8000k) (they output the light of a 10watt flashlight, 120% show bulbs, i dont reccomend for daily driving at all) , theyre great and HID identical..

Aight ima make this very clear.. The absolute max on the stock harness and stock headlamp units is 65watts without any damage.. 80watt is not a good idea, might last awhile, but damage will occur over time, might be fine for 3-6 months but hey, after that, just one day yer shits gonna go PooF! and guess what! honda knows if you put a high watt bulb in, they will charge you allllot of money because honda harness is for the WHOLE car not just the headlights, so your damaging your whole cars wiring, and to fix that, haha 500 bux in parts and about 400 in labor.. 1,000 bux to fix a 20 dollar bulb? dont be stupid get low wattage conversions for safety.

hey? wanna upgrade to high watt, upgrade your Harness and Buy aftermarket JDM or type headlamps that can support that heat (600 Degrees or more). dont be a cheap fucking moron who puts it on stock and takes chance. The honda dealership wont take a CHANCE writing out a invoice of 500-600 to repair your entire cars wiring from your stupidity.. Thats just my 2cents.. any help needed on this or any 4th gen mod ideas u got holla at me on AIM:xplodezz

NO

If your dumb enough to install high watt bulbs without adding the high watt(high temp) harness & melt the facory wiring, Honda will CUT off the wiring leads & splice new ones in. Not replace the whole harness The splicing is 1hr of labor & couple $15-20 in parts if you bring your own headlights & that is a waste of money when all you need is the harness meant for the lights. $20 maybe?

It usually says right on the box to upgrade the wiring!

Since I assume you are referring to moi in your rant, let me make a stament. First of all, small corrrection, the low beams aren't 100 watt, they are 80. I posted 85 before, but looked at the packaging and I was wrong. Anyways. Who said anything about a 9005 - 9006 conversion? If I wanna put a 65w bulb in my low beams, I would buy a 65w 9005 bulb. Its just that simple. In addition my wiring has been fine for almost three years now. never anything more than a burnt out bulb. Also, what is this about the harness being for the whole car??? I thought it was called a headlight harness for a reason. As for the $1,000 bill for my $20 bulbs, jackassi already addressed the fact that it is a simple procedure to replace the wiring/harness and I don't put in $20 bulbs. I buy the "good stuff". As for my mistake of not upgrading the wiring: live and learn. Simple mistakes for simple folks. No need to have a shit fit about it. Take the dick out of your ass and speak to me like man when you get off your period. I'm leaving work now, its 5:00, quittin time. And yes, I do have better things to do at work than sit on the internet before you say it. This is a small break. Gotta be lazy sometimes. So any flames you have for me will be dealt with tomorrow. L8!

You assume wrong

I used to see melted headlight connectors all the time @ honda, there are lots of people who didnt bother reading the instructions.

All we did was cut off the melted parts, strip the wire, splice it to a new light connectors & thats it!

I guess you got ripped, thats not my problem

How do you know that xplode was not talking about me??? Unless you know xplode, but that seems unlikely. And who got ripped? How? It can't be me, I ripped myself with my lack of planning

Wire harness damage goes way beyond headlight connectors im talking bout the cars main wiring system, the heat from a 80watt bulbs on stock harness will melt the entire cars wiring since they didnt do anything to keep the headlights seperate from the damn domelights or any other electronic operated device.. which can cost you a 200 dollar minimum to repair all.

FIRST: Before you let the words "panzy fuck" come through your fingers, to the internet, and to my eyes again, take a long pause, Chicago isn't that far from MI and I love road trips.

SECOND: I put the words "I assume" there for a reason. I very recently created a thread about a similar yet unsolved headlight problem on my car. If I wanted to hear about the problems of some guy on Super Honda I would become a member over there.

THIRD: Jackassi already informed me the it was not me you were referring to in the previous post.

BTW its spelled "right" Rite is a diet pop.

Once again, come speak to me when you get off your period.

Truce agreed. I'm glad we can be somewhat mature about this (myself included) before this got too ugly. Cuz this could've gone on forever.

Re: The truth about high wattage bulbs (Rant)

I run 80w low beams since July and they are fine. They are only 5000K color and throw a lot of light compared to crappy stock, and still emit pure white light. I'm going to get 100w for high beams too for the Hasidic people in black who walk into the street without looking at night.
