sohc zc vs. D16a6

Is there a difference between the 2 engines? I heard someone say on this message board that they were the same and then I've heard of people swapping from 1.6 to a zc. If there the same then why swap?

I've heard the difference is about 12 hp. maybe just a wilder cam, or more compression. But visually the two look identical except for the "zc" stamped on the engine code

I have one and I'm wondering if it's worth putting money into the swap. Right now I have the shitty d1.5 and am looking for something a little more quicker. I think I might have to rebuild the thing cause it's sitting around with the head taken off and it preety dirty. Money .money, money!!!!

if you're swappin out a d15 and you already have the engine..then why not...its a simple simple swap aside from the mpfi conversion... go for it since you've already got the engine...

if you already have the engine then do it to it. if you don't have the engine...you could always just do the MPFI conversion. the 1.5 being DPFI is a big reason it lags so bad. get some more fuel flow and you'll get more response

okay as far as i can tell from all the research ive done and the various people ive talked to... going to a sohc zc isnt that great if you have a readily available dohc zc because the diffrence in the two is about 10-15 hp so you might as well go with the dohc zc.

but if you happen to already have a sock zc then the diffrence can be alot depending on what your coming from. any dpfi system isnt going to take full advantage of the engine so your looking around 105-110 hp which is about the same as the Si. but if you happen to have an Si or mpfi already then you can expect more like 115-120hp. and im talking mostly stock with no I/H/E or maybe one of the three.

In the name of science at the end of summer im gonna see if i can get some money together to get my sohc zc dyno'd since im running a completely stock set up. when i get this done i will post my results. after i get it dyno'd i should have my mpfi ready to go and ill go back to get it dyno'd to see the new numbers and post results.

either way the sohc zc is the same engine as the d16a6 but it has a higher compression ration (instead of 9.1:1 it has 9.6:1 if i remember correctly) and because of this it can pump out the extra bit of pony power. but thats all from me for now ...

as a side note if anyone has a sock zc engine pics can they drop me a line i have a few questions.
