A/T --> 5 speed
ok i'm not to bright on the subject so don't flame me for asking the question but if you just want to keep the same engine but just change to a 5 speed how would i go about that the only way i 've herd of is an engine swap can some one help me out thanks

Mos, just go to a salvage yard and find the 5 speed manual you want from a '92 and up Accord or Prelude. You'll need the linkage cable the shifter, shift cable the left axle, the tranny of course and ...hmmm there's a few other things you need to get. I can't remember all the components. I would give a local hop up shop or grease monkey friend a call and ask them what you need get from the donor along with the tranny. The ones I mentioned above are a must have but there are several other components also that I can't remember so I'm no good to you but I can help point you in the right direction (I hope).

ok thanks that'll be kool well if you can come up with any more parts i need could you post them up and hey waht price range am i looking for here cause the A/t is cool but theni got to thinking if it doesn't cost too much i'll do it

I can pick up a 92+ Prelude Manual Tran for $300 from a salvage yard in my neck-o-the woods. It won't cost you much if YOU do the transplant. If you get the grocery list of needed components (which my colleague is unavailable at this time. I always feel guilty bugging him cause he always dadgum busy building someone else's honda) find an good import garage and they should be able to quote you another 350 to 450 to put in the parts. I've got a good Import shop in the neighborhood and they'd only charge $350 to do such a transplant but that's A/T to A/T. It may be in the $400 arena for A/T to M/T.

I'm 4hrs south of you in Rockets country.
Here's the grocery list: Prelude or Accord Tranny Transmission Linkages Transmission Mounts Clutch Flywheel Pressure Plate 5 Speed Pedals Manual ECU Manual Gauge Cluster (optional) Shifter and Shift Boot Clutch/Slave Cylinders Clutch Resovoir Matching Throttle Cable for the Pedal Set hydraulic lines Intermediate Shaft Upper transmission mount Whew! That's a mouthful. Hope that helps.

I could only really guess a ball park figure for parts (all that I mentioned) if you can convince the salvage yard that the manual tranny should come with all these parts you should be able to get the tranny for $300 but if not you can expect about $450 to $500. Labor, my acquaintance at ASAA told me bringing in all the parts it'll still run about $1600 for him to put in all the parts for the conversion. Now this is at a specialty shop. It may be less at an Import Garage that doesn't fill that "hop up" niche.

ohok ic now so your talkign about 2000 -2500 at the leastthen huh but then if it's gonna cost that much then i might as well do an engine swap huh ( in witch i do not want to do ) well i'llasj Jotech what's up with the A/t --> 5 speed swap since i live right down the street from it bvut then again i might just come down there to getit done right would your friend or guy be down for it i mean it's not anytime soon still but it's a must do it's either h22 5 speen swap or stright up trans swap it all depends if i can find an 01 and up h22 motor i guess

I've never used them myself. I think Jake is a great mech for this area but i also think they're a might bit steep. He does ALL the engine and tran works. He's a work horse and an experienced one at that. He ain't cheap though. If you talk to him (you'll have to talk to the shop managers though for pricing and scheduling) tell him Joe Nuss says "Hi".

well you know money isn't really a problem when it coes to doing the work right because if it's not done right i'll end up spending more money repairing it and then replacing it you know but i'll prolly give thema call with in the next week or two and explain my situation and see what he has to say and i'll tell him you said sup when i talk to him
