fuel pump

okay, I know there was just a thread about this, but I want to make sure I get noticed here.

Just today I've heard a loud humming coming from my trunk which is obviously the fuel pump. It had NEVER done this before and it extremely bothers me. Could that fuel pump resistor kit available at PFYC.com possibly fix the problem?

I read comments about checking vacuum lines... where will I find these and how do I get to them? From under the car or do I open that plate in the trunk?... I installed subwoofers in my trunk which have a pretty decent thump, so I'm thinking it could have possibly vibrated something loose, like these vacuum lines?... sound logical?

I reeeeeeally don't want to pay for a new pump so hopefully its not the problem...

by the way, anyone have one of those body kits for the GP? if so, how is the cost on install/painting?

thanks!!!

I had the same fuel pump failure on my '96 Bonneville. It started with a faint humming noise in the back seat area and progressed to a fairly loud hum accompanied by clicking noises. Pump was clearly worn out......you could move the shaft side to side. Changed the fuel pump and all was well again.

Changing the pump was a PITA though......had to drop the tank. My '02 GTP has an access cover under the carpet in the front of the trunk making the same replacement much easier if ever necessary. I'm not sure if your '97 GTP has the same access cover.

there is an access cover in my trunk but I can't get the damn thing open!! I unscrewed all of the nuts obviously, but it's like it's welded down or something. how can I get it off?

the pump(or whatever it is) is now making a clicking/buzzing sound when the car is turned off.... makes no sense to me... almost sounds like electrical sparking or something...

anyway... this sucks....
