? about dirty intake tube

one day i took off my cousins short ram intake from his 94 ex coupe,
and i noticed that it was kinda dirty inside it. i put a finger inside
and wiped it and it was hella dirty. it felt kinda thickish also, almost
like oil and dirt. is it normal for the inside of the intake tube to
get dirty. thanks for any help and replys.

sure. after a while, the lil bit of stuff that gets through the filter will collect. also, it's good to clean or change the filter every so often. clean/replace the filter, clean the pipe. check it after a week er so. if the gunk returns after that short a time. might wanna start lookin into potential causes for the quick and nasty build up.

Just get a K&N filter cleaner kit.

It gets oily because of oil vapors coming from the valve cover via tubing into the intake tube.

Yeah, you need to change the air filter about every 6 months to a year, or just clean it with the K&N kit.
