Engine swap question

I bought a 1997 BMW 740il that was a prior salvage car. The block was cracked in the accident and welded as a patch...this was done in 1997. Now the car has developed problems and is seeping oil around the patch job on the block. I bought an engine out of a 2001 model salvage car with 1500 miles on it. after looking the two over there are a few differences I see. My question is, Is there anyone here that can tell me if this engine swap will be possible without spending a ton of money changing it over? From what I see so far I think my main concearn is with the cam sensors. I will be using my old fuel system so I am fairly confident that won't cause alot of headache. I will be changing the front cover as well because the new engine has a water cooled alternator. Any advice would be appreciated. Also if anyone could tell me a good place to buy parts online that would be great as well. Thanks!

I don't have a scematic to look at, but can you tell exactly what looks different , as far as other sensors/injectors/electrical plugs/fuel system/manifolds/motor mounts/etc...
If the later engine uses different electronics then you might have swap sensors and other items from the old engine, if possible.
Post back on progress info.
