92 3.1L olds cutlass supreme oil leak

Have bad oil leak on driver side below intake near top of engine block. I cant see where the oil is coming from without tearing into it....
Anyone else have this problem.

On the older cars, they used to have a distirbutor at the spot where you are leaking engine oil. On the newer cars, because of dis, they put a dummy shaft with an "O" ring to block it. After a while, with age and heat the "O" ring gets hard and cracks and starts to leak.
The "O" ring will have to be replaced. It is a tidious job. The throtlebody, fuel lines will have to come off. The dummy shaft hold down has to come off. Replace shaft seal (O ring) with new seal. Lubricate it and drop it back in. lock it down. Replace throtlebody gasket. Top up oil. make sure there are no leaks after washing the area. Good Luck.

Unhappy 92 3.4L Oil leak

I have a 92 Cutlass International with the 3.4 DOHC that also has
a leak at the dummy distributer seal. I was told that on this engine the head has to come off to replace the seal. Too much work for me and very
expensive for an old car. Anyone know of any other cure for this problem?
Thanks

RAMCHHARGER-lift up the oil pump drive and put ultra black rtv around the base, reinstall drive and let it stay 24 hours without starting the car(proper seal time) worked great on my 3.4 NO MORE LEAK !!!

1991W1 Thanks for the tip, I had considered this but didn't know
if I could get to it to try. Good to know it worked for you, I'll definately
give it a try.
