why muscle cars are generally better....
i love hot rodding, and racing just as much as the next guy. it's a way of life. I love RX-7's and Supra's, but i also love Chevelles, GTOs, Cutlass 442s, Nova SS's, Challengers, HemiCuda's etc...... i hate stupid Civics, Preludes, Integras etc.... but there are a few undeniable facts.....
domestics are generally better than imports because they have TORQUE, more horsepower, are cheaper to mod, won't blow up after 2 years if you put a supercharger/blower on it, have rear wheel drive(front wheel drive is just stupid, because when u launch, the weight transfers to the rear wheels, thus taking valuable traction away from your drive wheels), THE AVERAGE HOPPED UP CIVIC RUNS 14-15'S WHILE THE AVERAGE HOPPED UP DOMESTIC RUNS 11-12'S (this is with an equal amount of $$ on mods. domestics DO NOT rust out in 3 years, and NEITHER do imports, so don't try and pull that crap. any car will rust out in the same amount of time if you don't take care of it. My Chevelle runs in the mid 11's naturally aspirated (no forced induction or nitrous, just plain old mods to the physical motor itself- cam, heads, intake manifold, carb, pistons, exhast.... total $$ spent including car and self performed restoration to date- $10k) I don't hate imports per-se, but i think it's weird to try and take an economy car and make a racer out of it (rx-7 and supra not included here). As far as looks go, the dropped, winged, ground fx, paint job shit is definetely cool. i would own one for looks in a second, but i'm not here for looks. i'm here to race, and go fast. keep in mind that through this rambling, i'm speaking GENERALLY, not specifically. i'm talking about imports in general, and muscle cars in general. there are always exceptions to the rule. the RX-7 and Supra are both amazing cars that i would ALMOST trade my car to own. I have a friend with a totally tricked out RX-7 that he races at the strip that runs mid 9's. that is pretty rare to see. I also have a friend with another Chevelle that runs 9's. that is also rare(but not quite as rare as a 9 sec. import) i'm just voicing my own opinion here based on my own experience. there are always exceptions, and new thigs to learn. but remember- IN THE END IT'S ALL HOT RODDING, and we all should stick together to keep our sport alive. peace |

As the owner of a Numbers matching "70 Nova SS 350/4sp/3.73 12 bolt rear and a 91 Stealth Twinturbo, I like them both for different reasons.
My Dad bought the Nova in '72 when he was in highschool, built it himself and ran a best of 10.87 at Norwalk Ohio in the early 80's. There's nothing like that SBC rumble with 11.5:1 and big exaust. For what it is worth, this car was also driven to Ohio and back, and daily driven .I got the car when I was 17 (what was my dad thinking?!?) and drove it daily. 60Kmiles with that much compression put it in the garage. You just can't get that feeling from anything else. On the other hand, my Stealth ran a best of 13.3 with problems, but is a mid/high 12sec car in top condition. I drive it daily. It sounds real good, too, but unlike the Nova, has an excellent ride and every creature comfort imaginable, and it gets 25 MPG to the Nova's 14. Huge technology leaps put my Stealth on top in my book, but there is still absolutely nothing like an OLD muscle car to put a smile on your face.

Depends
it really depends where you hang... if you hang out a lot with imports you'll see alot of fast imports.... and if you hang out around domestics then you'll see a lot of fast domestics...
the fun part about imports is making them fast enough to smoke out domestics or any other car on the road... the importscene is generally the 4-bangers and you rarely see RX7s or Supra's anyways....

9s Imports rare.. what planet are you from?
The reason a Import will always be better than american is that although it maybe cheap for you to build a fast 1/4 mile car with a HUGE v8... you can have a import car that does 9's, on street tires. street legal and can still go round corners pretty damn well... Hell if I am going to go fast, and have 800HP or more... I want to always be able to use it. If I want a Fast cheap 1/4 weapon... I will buy a motorcycle..

foreign cars that run 9's are rare. I go to riverside dr in austin tx, every saturday night with all of my import friends. Their are usually around 75-100 cars in a parking lot at one time. There are about 90 imports and about 10 domestics including my vette. out of all those imports not one runs under 12 in 1/4 mile and out of us domestics about 3 or 4 run under 12, and can still take all the cornering that downtown austin provides us. Lets face it america's v8's were made for speed, and domestics 4 and 6 bangers were made for gas mileage with the exception of the supras and rx7. And if you have 800 hp in an import you will not be able to use it for your daily live, why you ask, because your tires on the front will have to be wide and that limits your turning radius, second foreign or domestic if you have 800 hp you will ruin the engine if you use it other than racing, and 3rd no 800 hp car is street legal. And nobody said that you couldnt buy a motorcycle, all that will do is show your lack of building fast cars. What car do you think girls will like more a stingray or a wet fart sounding civic. check out this bad azz supra, ill admit girls will go for that over a stingray!

Opinions are like A$$Holes everybody has one>
It really burns me up that grown people can argue about these things. Some people like chocolate some don't! You don't see people ragging them out and others making excuses. It really is ridiculous. You either like it or you don't, that is your own opinion. You don't have to make excuses for it, and you don't have to push it onto other people. I love muscle cars from all era's! You have your 60' & 70's huge V8 muscle cars, then you have your 90's muscle cars. They are the same thing, just different era's! I own a 95' 300ZX. A 90's muscle car. (300ZX, Supra, Rx7) these are the Chevelle's, 442's, and Challengers of the past. Then you go down the spectrum...you can beef up any car! In the past you had to buy the 5.7 liter V8 to get all that power out of a huge car. Now I have seen 4-bangers cranking out 500-600 hp in a car that weighs half as much. So, to each his own. The reason we are all in this forum, and members, is because we all love automobiles. Thats all that really matters!:zx11pisse |

Hear, hear, DeamonZX. It really irks me too when someone says this is better than that, or that is better than this. As long as you're having fun with your ride no matter if it's a Lada or Yugo it doesn't really matter what the next person thinks.
![]() ![]() Let's just have fun kids. Everyone likes different things let's respect that. You could try and convince me that domestics are better till your blue in the face. I still would never buy a domestic muscle car. :right:

Maybe you alot of 9s Imports in the USA, but of course it is the opposite in Japan..
You are an idiot if you think there arn't 800HP street legal cars. There are street legal Jappers with over 1000HP.. Veilside Skyline is 1400HP and completely road legal on road tires.. RH9 is a club with road legal 9s cars... and 0-300 has been done in around 13s... probably faster than you can get to 100mph in your vett.. I am not talking about civics and shit... 4WD is where you get the ULTIMATE street weapon. Sure if you want under 9's.. and a pure strip car.. you can't beat a rail with a big super charged V8. Cars are fun shit, just be greatful you can have a powerful car... as someday you might have to be in an electric car on a preset course................. :silly2:

I don't remember where i saw it but i once read something about a skyline in Japan with about 2500 HP. His power to weight ratio was something 1:1(1 HP for each 1 pound of car). Now i don't know about you, but i dear say an AWD Skyline with 2500 HP could break 9...

Ok do you actually think a car can do 0-300 in 13s? Because i have yet to even read about a future car that can do that. Unless your a top fuel dragster! Plus i never said that you couldnt't get an import under 9 sec, i said that they are rare. If you want to talk about big hp then lets talk about funny cars, their pushing around 6-7000 hp "you know the cars that can go from 0-280 in about 4 seconds." and i hate to tell you but there american made!

![]() and It possible to get the same spefic hp out of any well designed engine, wether it has 4 or 8 cly. and of course a topfuel drag car does not realy class as a muscle car.
