Aggggggghhhhhhhh!!
I need help please!! Does anyone know why I would be going through CV boots like nothing. Recently, It seems like I have to replace the outboard CV boot way too often. Is every 2 years weird? On the passanger side it was a complete half-axle replacement and on the drivers it was a boot replacement. Either way, both of them needed to be replaced after 2 years. Any info/suggestions would be great! thanks in advance guys |

Nah...that sounds about right...
One thing I do to help them is to make sure I get a hose (pressure washer if I go to a car wash joint) and spray all the road grime/salt, etc... off the boots...also whenever I change the oil I spray the hell out of my boots with Armor All..that seems to help keep the rubber from cracking and prolongs their life just a little bit... Usually, when a boot breaks, I just keep driving it, cuz by the time the boot cracks, the CV joint inside is already shot, unless you catch it RIGHT away. You can drive another 6 months or so on a bad joint, until you hear it clacking while driving straight, then you just get a "new" axle. They run about $65 or so, so it doesn't seem worth it to me to hope my joint is OK after the boot goes, and spend $100 on a boot that may still have a bad joint underneath

Its from accelerating hard with the wheels cranked left or right.. Lots of people do it too much.

Quote:
When you take off from a street turning left, or right, or you're comming out of a parking lot and you turn the wheel sharp in either direction, and press the gas hard, it tears your CV boots and ruins CV joints.
