Exclamation Auto to Manual Transmission

whats it like to change an auto tranny car to a manual one? ive heard its way too hard. but i wanna do it.... what things would i have to get/do to do it?

yes it can be done, but its probably better just to sell ur car and buy one with a 5spd. Well u need to buy tranny, install a clutch, remove torque convertor, linkage, various brackets, reprogram or replace ECU. I probably left out a couple things but those r pretty big themselves. It is a lot of work!

i had it done on my car and it was totally worth it. i didn't do it myself so i paid out the ass, it cost $3000 for a dx auto to zc standard, now that also included many replacement parts and stuff but to do the conversion you need the following (what i paid without shopping around)


shift linkage $90
pedals $50
clutch cable $10
throttle cable $10
cv shafts $120
tranny mount $50
zc engine $900
si tranny $350
dist $0
pm6 ecy $200

engine install labour $500
dpfi to mpfi labour $200
auto to manual labour $200

then i paid for timing belt, water pump, plugs, filters, fluids

so it worked out to something just over $3g's installed

btw thats all canadian dollars so about $2000us funds.

Brackets ect...

Is there any brackets that need to be welded or stuff like that to swap an auto to manual? any websites that tell u how to do it?...
