from what i've heard, i think that is supposed to be like a cowl spoiler to help aerodynamics from your windshield wipers causing drag.. or something like that.. either way, it looks retarded on teh front of the hood.
its not needed for aerodynamics, the worlds fastest honda civic only has a front air dam aero package.. it goes like 200mph and you dont see no "hood wing" on it.

yeah, the other day i took my old tired wiper arms off to paint them flat black and i thought that the hatch looked bad ass with no wipers.. too bad it rains all teh time and birds shit on my window
