Driver door won't open, from in or out, lock stuck
Sorry for the long post.
My granddaughters car. She’s been climbing in and out of the passenger side for 6 months now. She lives away from me and I don’t get to work on the car for more than a couple hours when she comes home. The door will not unlock with key or the handle inside. I can grab the lock button with players and it resists like it’s electrically being pulled down. I pulled the panel back far enough to see and feel the rods and they all seem to bee attached. The inside handle acts like it wants to push it up but will not. The door switch started acting crazy before this because it would pop the button up and down erratic for several cycles sometimes. All other doors work ok from the driver door switch. I can’t open the door to access the actuator or anything else. I disconnected the battery hoping it would allow me to pull the lock button up and it still won’t let me pull it. I’m about to cut the door panel from the inside to get to the inside but not %100 sure if it’s gonna help. I think the actuator is bad but I can’t open the door to do anything. Please, if anyone has any suggestions, I will have it here to work on this weekend. Thanks in advance for any help. Grandad in need. |

Re: Driver door won't open, from in or out, lock stuck
If I was in your position. Last resort, find a replacement panel at a salvage yard. Then google door panel removal so you'll know wear to cut into it without cutting/damaging wires/cables etc.
EDIT: Or a locksmith.

Re: Driver door won't open, from in or out, lock stuck
Thanks, I’ve watched some YouTube videos and have a good idea where to cut. Just not sure what I’m going to do. I still can’t remove the actuator without opening the door. A locksmith would pull on the lock lever with a slimjim type tool. I can physically pull up on the lock rod that sticks up from the door panel with plyers but it just fights to go back down. It comes up about 1/4 inch. I grab it by pulling the door lever inside. It tries to come up and unlock but I think the actuator is jammed in the locked position. Still looking for someone who’s had this problem before.

I'd go locksmith with the agreement. "Opened I pay you". Unable, No charge".

Re: Driver door won't open, from in or out, lock stuck
Well I cut the panel back far enough to get to the rods and found the small rod for the key lock unhooked at the top going to the handle. Pushed and pulled the rod until the door would open. After that I was able to push the door lockup and down but every time I pushed it down it would pop back up after a couple of seconds. Not sure why but it was doing something similar before it locked and wouldn’t unlock at all. Once open I took the two bolts out of the actuator and pulled it out far enough to disconnect the plug. Not sure if the BCM is telling the door lock to do this or if the actuator is bad.
