Curious trailer lights issue

The Ridgeline RTL already had the 7-pin port for trailer lights. I needed to convert the wiring to the flat 4-pin type. Purchased a decent plug that allows you to custom wire the hook-up.
Before doing the final steps of sealing things up for eventual use, I used wire nuts to join the leads from vehicle port to a 4-pin trailer plug. Using a digital MM I of course checked for continuity from the new 7-pin plug to the flat 4-pin. All appeared fine, achieving all 0.00 readings for each connection.. AND confirming the correct 4 terminals between plugs.
Ground, tail lights, and emergency lights (subbing for brakes) and turn signals on the vehicle were all good to go. Strangely though, turning on either the Left or Right signal indicated voltage at each signal terminal on the 7-pin port? Is it possible that full voltage was correctly present for L and R, and maybe a lesser and insignificant voltage was present at the opposite terminal? Difficult to know because of how the readings swing wildly if measuring a pulsing DC voltage.
Yes, I did check my adapter Ground connections, and the vehicle's Ground pin. Both were fine! So, what's up here?? Any guesses?

Re: Curious trailer lights issue

(Hellooooooo. Have I been ostrich-sized from the group? ha) If anyone is having a similar issue, here was my 'solve'. One little 7.5A fuse. Not a grounding issue! Fuse labeled "Trailer Hazard". I don't need to fully understand why this blown fuse caused so much chaos. I'm more curious over why *nothing* at all (lights) was working on the trailer?? Not the turn signals, not the running lights! All trailer lights were fully functional, tested before finding the blown fuse. Oh, btw.. where is it noted here how many views your post has had? I mean, I kinda get that it's 0! But I'm use to seeing the number of views, along-side the number or Replies. (also .... *0*)
