Battery Storage

Hi - Ive moved to an area where everything is 30 minutes away. Im wanting to purchase a spare battery for my vehicle but want to make sure it keeps a charge for when I need it.

When looking online, I see various results regarding how long a new battery will hold its charge.

Anyone have some information on this and how often I should charge it?

Thank you,
Jack

Re: Battery Storage

Assuming you're going with a standard lead acid battery you should consider getting a Battery Tender or similar and just keep it trickle charged all the time. Otherwise, for a standard lead acid battery I'd suggest giving it a low rate charge every 3 months when not in use.
