ModellingMaster Subaru Impreza WRC S14 (1/24)

This is the ModellingMaster resin kit built out of the box with a few extras. It's closest to the presentation car in the STI Museum. Paint is Zero Paints World Rally Blue - Subaru 02C (2001-2006/BRZ). Seatbelts are from Eduard.

The model is very detailed, easily the best resin in my collection. The front/rear light assemblies & the wing are superb. It is still prone to the usual bends & warping though. The kit has full engine detail but I glued the hood down to keep things simple. You'd have to make your own hinge system, and getting it to lay flat would require careful planning from the start and test-fitting continuously.

The decals go on milky but otherwise dry fine. The Subaru 6-star logos seem like not enough steps were used for the gradient and look cartoonish compared to everything else. The Studio 27 Team Arai GB 2009 decals (DC881) are worth getting for these alone. I redid a couple others I either messed up or felt were mis-sized.

Real tint was used from samples to replicate the silver chrome on the rear glass pieces. I could have gone a shade darker but I wanted to still be able to see inside. If I did it again I would use the whole tint sheet (with protective layer) in place of the actual glass where possible. The effect looks great and I can't wait to use it again.

Very nice clean build, the first time I see this model as a kit.

Re: ModellingMaster Subaru Impreza WRC S14 (1/24)

No WIP pics. It was a fairly straightforward build, with attention paid to fitment, ride hide, wheel gap, etc. I must have redone the exhaust 3 times. And I don't think I ever figured out how the front body attached to the chassis so I made my own pins. It's all worth it for the end result.
