Video: Inspection of the VarioCam on the Porsche 968

the video shows the control of the VarioCam on the Porsche 968. VarioCam is an implementation of a variable camshaft control by Porsche. The camshafts for the intake and exhaust valves are connected by a chain. The chain is shortened by a controlled magnetic actuator and so the timing of the inlet valves changes. The system has some components that are subject to wear. The video gives you a step by step instructions for checking the timing chain, its slide rails and the camshaft gears. Porsche counts this inspection is not part of normal service work, but this inspection is recommended after 100,000 km at the latest.
