2008 e66 drive/brake module mess

So the battery went dead, replaced with correct one, but computer came back up with "Brake and drive control systems malfunction. I'm told by a former bmw mechanic that I have to take it to a dealership to be reprogramed. 250 miles nearest one. Oh for an e30.
