any ideas?

alright well ive got a stock 94 Z-28 and next summer me and a buddy are gonna pull the engine and redo it. im just wondering any real ideas and not outragiously pricey. im just doing research. ill have about 3-4 grand to spend. i dont wanna replace the motor and i want a street/strip car. it probably will still be my daily driver afterwards too.

Well if you want to play around with LS1s i would suggest you do H/C(head/cams), and Headers. Just keep in mind that your stock rear is glass ready to break on hard launches... GM rears arent that strong. Upgrade it to a Moser 31spline /Ford 9" rear end. That and some gears... the steeper the better. 4.56s is the way to goooo Ok maybe that can be too much gear for you, but i highly suggest at least 4.10s or steeper. Unless youre planning to get on the bottle or a Super/Turbocharger then maybe 3.73s might suit your need but then youd wish youd went with 4.10s.

The LT-1 is a good engine (basicaly a Vor-Tec) and parts are reasonable compared to LS-1 stuff. You can treat it like most any other build-up. It just depends on what you are looking for. The only bad thig is that LT-1 is LT-1, and nothing external is the same (block, heads, waterpump, distributor, p.c.m., etc...). You could do the typical cam/headers/exhaust/gears swap, but i would recogmend pulling the heads and have them ported w/stainless valves. At a certain point , the M.A.F. will be the limiting flow-factor. Granitelli Racing makes a performance unit, but i think they were in the $300 range. To keep it streetable (comfortably) you might think about installing a (low to medium h.p.) nitrous kit. I have one for my Vette, but just haven't had time to install it. For the performance gain, nitrous has been proven to be the best cost-effective mod that can be done.
They (LT-1s)do run on the rich side, so most mods will cause a leaner condition and should improve performance.
I guess what you need to decide is how much to spend, and how quick you want to go. Just don't go too radical for an every day driver.

thanks for the input. like i said right now im just doing research on the parts i could put in and what exactly my engine will handle. no offense texas but im trying to stay away from nitrous. in my opinion is cheap power in other words its horsepower you really dont have. but thats just me though. and nobody has been able to convince me otherwise. hey texas what part you from anyways. im movin to san antonio the end of the summer.

Dude! What a small world it is. I can get from my house to the Alamodome (down town SanAntonio) in about 30min. What brings you south anyway? Where are you from? We'll have to hook up one of these days.
I installed headers and exhaust on a stock Z and the customer said it made a huge difference. Maybe you could start out w/the easy stuff before tackling anything internal. Little mods do add up.
