Thinking about getting a Neon...

Hey,

I'm thinkin about buyin a 2002 Neon. I really don't know much about them at all and wanted some info before I went to blow 8 grand. My main question is; is this somewhat of a fast car stock? Like what cars can it take that around the same price range? How would this car do against an Integra, Civic, Eclipse(All Stock)? Is it quick off the line? Whats its acceleration like? Whats its top speed like? Do the 2002's come with sun roofs and do they come in leather? Let me know the answer to all of those questions and some more simple info about them if you got the time. Thanks a lot guys.

-Mike

Yes, they are somewhat quick for a stock 4 banger that's fairly cheap. I don't know if you're looking at a base model or an R/t, but they are very similar to Civic Si's. You will beat 1st and 2nd gen Eclipses if they're stock non-turbo. Its alright off the line, acceleration is great at top of 1st gear. Top speed limitied at 118mph, can easily be changed to about 130 with the snip of a wire. I know they come with moonroofs and I'm pretty sure they have leather.(probably just r/t)

word i agree

stock you can pass a civic or an eclispe, another thing you can do if your joint is automatic, shift from drive to 3rd gear like at a light for faster take off, or say your on the highway somebody trying to show off your doing 60 shift to 3rd and your stock engine will surprise a few people thell think you did a lil mod, im selling my joint 2002 auto se dodge neon euro altezza's and indiglo gauges everything else stock 7000 obo dont really mean to plug it but i have to sell it im moving. right now i live in va you could get out here ill save you a grand or so.

I just bought a 2000 Neon ES automatic, complete motorized sunroof. indiglo gauges, and that's pretty much all the options that came w/ it. it's a great little car. I haven't really raced it yet. but from what I've seen it do so far, I'm very impressed w/ that lil 4 cyl. off the line I'm not too impressed though. I had a geo tracker that could get a somewhat modded mustang off the line (for less than a second, the mustang then quickly proceeded to leave my tracker in the dust). I haven't really tested it yet but it's ok off the line. what I'm more impressed w/ is it's second and third gear acceleration. the first time I drove it I had it on an interstate and was going 75 when I decided to see if I could just get it up to 90, so I switched lanes and stomped on it, a few short seconds later I look down and see that not only did I make it up to 90 it was goin up and over 100. I wasn't expecting that out of such a little engine. and also it grips the road great. I've took it around some curves goin about 70 and 80. if you're lookin to drag race I really don't think it would be good for that, although I don't know what it could do w/ some slight mod's. but on a curvy track, I'm positive it could hold it's own against much more powerful contenders. plus they just look really cool
