ChCh DRAGS

[GTS-4 Ben]

The Christchurch Drags were on on Friday. Hot day and quite a few cars.

The hilite was the Blue R32 GTR owned by JJ Motorsport. It has mostly N1-R gear in it, including crank, pistons, head, valves etc. The Turbo's are stock size but also N1-R and non Ceramic ofcourse.

Before I left he had ran a best time of 11.08 @ 126 but has alot more potential as it was on road tires and not launching it that hard.

Also the GTiR was out there again, ran a 11.6. He is installing an Power FC and anti lag for the next drags so it should be alot faster, as lag is really bad of the mark as well as traction which should be helped with launch control.

There was 1 more GTR running 12.9 and a few GTS-T's. The better one with a full colour change paint job and a 25DET engine and link computer. Traction is a big problem for him, but with Slicks he should see some good times. NOS is also on the way and 200HP shot...

I didn't run as my clutch was almost dead... so on the way home out the back roads... i gave it a bit to much shit.....


So now I don't have a clutch.... so a new clutch will be going in, + new turbo and paint job

Ben , tell me more about Jonos new car , did he sell the white one? you have to convince him to bring it up to the Idrag import nationals in Janurary , it would be cool to have a big group of 11 second GTRs there . (hopefully mine included) .

Well I don't know alot about it. It ran an 11.08.

He has still got the White one, sitting in his workshop. The one he has now (new paint job, blue) is fully worked from japan, as I said with N1-R gear in it.. I believe he had some problems after the drags though as he may have pushed it too far.. I will have to see.

Brenhan.. if you want 11's, then do it properly with the right ECU and gear

yeah I am doing it properly so low 11's should not be a problem , I have no idea when I will next be down that way , here are the specs so far for my car , HKS step 2 280degree cams , head porting and a bit of combustion chamber work , Single turbo (60-1), 45mm external wastegate , Haltech E6K ecu , Tilton triple plate clutch and lightweight flywheel , Bar and plate intercooler 600x300x100 mm , there are a few other things that I cant think of at the moment , I am so close to having it going I can almost hear it , with a little luck it will be running in a few weeks , so I might be able to do some of the night drag series before christmas. Jono sounds like a hard man on machinery , but he is doing really well to do those times , can you get a few pics of it ?

Yeah you go for it!, those mods sound pretty awesome, I would love to see some 10's.

Johno is pretty hard on his cars

Hopefully I will be able to come up to Auckland some time and see you racing it up there..

It is great to have a good V8 killer down here though. I don't have any pics of his blue one but there are ones of the white one.

Hey Ben,
I was talking a guy at work today who said he was talking to someone in PBDRC who said that Johno ran a 11.0 at 141 mph...which would indicate a 9 second potential car...but thats a big difference from 126mph...

141 mph indicates around 900 hp at the flywheel , I dont think so Tim.

141... NO WAY, that in a GTR would be low 9's..

I also heard he did a 10.9, but I don't think he did..
