Even with no check engine light illuminated, it could still have pending diagnostic codes.

You don't mention checking for vacuum leaks, so have you checked for vacuum leaks?

Re: engine bogs, no check eng. lite

i checked for vacuum leaks and found none. i noticed smoke coming from back of motor near where i believe pvc valve is located. could my pvc valve be plugged up and if so would it cause my motor to run the way i described it was running?

If the PCV valve has a rubber elbow, those have been known to crack on multiple other Ford products and cause a vacuum leak misfire.
