Exclamation Spa 98 - DC's confession.

He admits he was to blame for the incident with MS for the first time!!! I've been saying this for years.

While I don't think he did that one purpose, to take MS out, it still was his fault and he finally admitted it (took him 5 years). But it's OK. I don't dislike him as much as I used to before today. Now that he admitted it, it's by-gones in my opinion.

Wisdom comes with age, right.

He admidts that he misjudged the situation, so he certainly didn't do it on purpose, like so many others believed. Good that the matter can now rest.

Curious to know if Fernando-boy will also need 6 years to come to terms with this actions...

flavio prolly told him to take it to the grave Ive always liked david and i dont think he would do it on purpose. But the conditions surrounding that race sure make it seem like it.

So now Schumacher just has to admit he was to blame for Adelaide 1994 and he will be as big a man as DC.

In reality Coulthard's comments are nothing new. The situation as he described it is how I always thought it happened. It was a racing incident. That's right, one of those situations wher nobody is to blame but the conditions. He was trying to let Michael past as a lapped car should, they had a miscommunication and it ended in tears. Micheal's reaction afterward was the worst part. Seemed to me that if Todt and the rest hadn't been so keen to make sure McLaren made Coulthard move out the way, then Coulthard would not have know Schumacher was there and wouldn't have lifted.

Alex regards you thread heading - it is inaccurate. There is no confession, of guilt or otherwise.

Not quite, Phil. While that accident wasn't deliberat on the part of DC, and I never believed it was, DC had always been sayingthat he had done nothing wrong, made no mistake, and it was pretty much MS's fault that he ran into him. But now he finally admitted that he made a mistake that lead to the accident and would have done it differently now.

MS's reaction - come on! He was hot from the accident where he was leading the race extremely comfortably, was getting 10 points and was taken out by a mistake of a backmarker. Seems quite understandible to me.

But what DC did hasn't changed, only his perspective after Alonso gave him a scare. He can now empathise with Schumacher.

Maybe you can understand Schumacher' reaction. To me it was unprofessional, the main culprit was the weather not Coulthard, did he wave his fist at God too?

To harp on Adelaide 94, compare Hill's reaction after retiring courtesy of MS. While good old George Harrision was priceless in the background, saying what the rest of us were thinking...

But we're not talking about MS, or 94 (which, was at least 50/50). We're talking about DC, and you're right, we're talking about the change of his perspective. That's exactly the point. And read my first post, I do consider the 98 incident water under the bridge now.

But there is Phil, when you see the world through red-tinted glasses Coulthard's comments are as good as a confession.....

OK, admitting it was his mistake, admitting it was his fault Are you gong to start nit-picking my use of the language now?

You don't have to defend DC, I started this thread not in order to slag him off, really. Vice versa, he gained some respect in my eyes. So chill out
