Electrical troubleshooting
Recently got a 2011 Sierra. The cruise control and the steering wheel radio controls don't work, so I suspect a problem that affects both. Fuses are all OK. Any advice on where to start looking? Thanks...

Re: Electrical troubleshooting
Could be a clock spring issue. Is the airbag light on?

Re: Electrical troubleshooting
No, airbag light initializes normally at startup, then goes out...

Re: Electrical troubleshooting
marty, even though airbag light not on, Stealthee might still be partially right;
since you mention you recently got the rig, does it have decal for the 07-14 GM airbag recall? if so, previous owner could have taken care of that and tech when they swapped takata, they disconnected steering lead wire for vol/etc, and said oh well, i flagged hour for one airbag pull and it works.. might look into it; or might just be fuse.. i believe '11 GMC has inside fuse box under dash/behind steering wheel (cover is removed by screwdriver, can't remember regular or jeweler's size) cover has code numbers that correspond to radio controls, cruise, etc. hope this helps.. |

Re: Electrical troubleshooting
I don't find evidence the airbag was replaced, but on the NHTSA site it does not show as an outstanding recall. So I'm guessing it's been replaced. And I also suspect something was left unplugged at that time. So there's my project for next weekend...
