Say so long to the sunfire
Chevrolet's aging Cavalier compact model will be replaced by an all-new car utilizing GM's new global front-wheel-drive Delta platform already used in the Saturn Ion. The model will also use the Saturn's Ecotec 4-cylinder engine, which is also offered in the 2003 Cavalier. The Cobalt will debut sometime in 2004 as a 2005 model. It is expected that it will share a lot of engineering with GM's European next-generation Opel Astra model. The Cavalier's sister model, the Pontiac Sunfire, will be replaced in 2005 by a Cobalt twin called the Pontiac Pursuit. The Pursuit will debut as a 2006 model.
