make sure both sensors are ok (front and rear) then leave the ignition on for around 40 seconds that should hopefully reset the pad light

Re: Brake lining indicator/lights
I have a question about this, my mechanic just changed my brake pads and said there was only one sensor on the front driver side none on the back and it appeared to be fine. I have a 91 525I and trying to reset the brake lining warning indicatior with the key in position 2 and waiting 45 seconds does not reset it.... is there a problem if I do not have a sensor on the back??? light just came on yesterday????

Re: Brake lining indicator/lights
the sensor is only on one of the pads, i believe the drivers side. it is an open circut ,once the new one is put in place, (plugs in at pad connection) the light should go out. let me know if your light has gone off. as i plan on doing my brakes tomorrow. I am at 85,000 miles, should i replace the rotors also

There should be two sensors, one in front (driver side) and one in the back (passenger side). If you're missing one sensor, the brake lining indicator light will stay on because of an open circuit. Contrary to what beatruit suggested, it is a closed circuit once a new sensor is installed. Good luck!
