2017 Silverado TPMS relearn

Just rotated tires and thought I’d be able to get the TPMS sensors to relearn their positions by entering the relearn mode and then let the air out of each tire one at a time as I do for my 2008 GM vehicle. No such luck on the 2017. Is a relearn tool required for the newer vehicles or is there another procedure that can be done to relearn tire position after rotation?
Thanks

Re: 2017 Silverado TPMS relearn

A relearn tool can be used but the method without the tool is actually still pretty similar, just a different way of entering relearn. You can go through the DIC and put it into relearn there.

A quick google brings up a few videos showing people doing it. I found one where a guy did it on a Volt.

If you do want to just get a tool there are cheap ones (like under $20) on Amazon that will do the job.
