I was wondering what the average life span (in miles) is for a 944 turbo is. Do they have problems with blown headgaskets, blown turbos, ect? In essence I need to know what to look for on these cars (i read up on the n\a 944 but i wanted to know of any quirks of the turbo's have. Thanks for the info.

944 Turbos, also known as 951s, are quite reliable. It's a 2.5 liter SOHC 4 cylinder making at best 250hp, so it's not exactly strained. Like any car, if you abuse it, it'll have problems, and things will break. I've never heard of any serious problems with the 951, except with some racers bending the aluminum front control arms.

Replace the timing belt(that requires a $600 tool, apparently), change the oil and coolant at regular intervals, keep the timing correct, rebuild the turbo when it needs it, etc and you will have a reliable car that lasts for lifetime. Neglect it, and you get to find out just how expensive Porsche parts can be.

There are lots of 951s around with over 200,000 miles on the original engine. As with any turbo, it will need to be rebuilt at some point, and that really depends on how well it was taken care of.
