problems that arise after fixing other things

What sorts of jobs have you attempted or completed that led you to find or cause other problems? Maybe it's trying to replace something on the exterior and even though you were being careful, you scratched your car. With the low quality of things these days, it seems like sometimes it's not worth changing things to improve appearance.

Re: problems that arise after fixing other things

Noob here....though I am a member on a number of other forums.

For me, it's often been the case that I will be under my car working on one thing (control arms for example) and then notice a clip or retainer or something is missing or damaged, and then I can't stop thinking about it until I get it replaced.

Also, more recently I was trying to troubleshoot a battery issue and found out there is some surface rust on the frame below the battery tray, which I am currently trying to address.

Re: problems that arise after fixing other things

Hah, I don't necessarily have issues with breaking things while fixing other, but I do have a way of making things "worse"

For instance, when the diff in the transmission blew out AGAIN in my Stealth I decided it was time to just park it, buy a newer reliable car, then go through the Stealth and fix things that had driven me nuts for years.

It took awhile to get moving on it, but when I started my initial plans were to just pull the engine and trans, fix the trans, regasket the engine, repaint the engine bay, then slap it back in and finish the body after.

What it turned into was seeing things that looked like crap and me removing EVERYTHING for clean up/paint/resto. I literally mean everything when I say that too. The entire suspension was removed, cleaned up, rebuilt, etc. The entire interior was removed for total clean up and paint inside.

The worst part of all of this is life kept getting in the way delaying things (along with not having a garage) and I ran into rust issues in the floor pan. After some internal debate I picked up a clean shell and did it all over again.
