trans question.

i have a 89 5 spd and i want to put a 91 engine in the 89, will the DOHC engine bolt to the SOHC trans?

no clue but my guess is that it fits..... essentially the block is the same, just the head and everything associated with that is different, and the pistons..........

to my knowledge they are the same transmissions and should work... with no problems.

The bellhousings on the tranny's are different. The SOHC tranny was using an older setup that nissan had for awhile. When they made the DOHC KA they changed the bellhousing on the tranny also. Also the wiring for the sensors is a little different as well. You could pull it off by using the bellhousing from your sohc and getting that onto the dohc tranny and then just doing a little bit of re-wiring.

yer...... its not really good to swap in parts from other years as well...

even if its the same model sometimes they make changes in internal parts and computer programs in cars from various years..... so sometimes things can get messed up..... my dad has been trying to get a tranny to work in a newer Taurus and it just won't work properly, its a newer year like a 98 and they changed something in it without telling anyone basically, its been in and out of the car and rebuilt 5 times now lol without leaving the shop.

you just have to find out if it's interchangeable.... if it is there isn't any prob swapping years at all. im trying to get some 1991 rear speaker covers right now
