2004-2008 Ford F150 5.4L V8 Spark Plug Removal

Tools:

7mm, 10mm, socket

14mm spark plug socket

x2 3in wobble extension

Procedure:

Take the 10mm socket and remove the 3 bolts that hold the computer in. This job can be completed without unplugging it. Remove the 8mm bolt on each coil. Pull the coil out and remove the spark plug. Re torque is 25ftlbs.

Re: 2004-2008 Ford F150 5.4L V8 Spark Plug Removal

The 5.4L 3V has original spark plugs that will break into two pieces leaving the threaded part in place if you don't remove them correctly. Go to YouTube and search for "fordtechmakuloco 5.4 spark plugs" and you will find many videos that Brian did on the proper removal. I tried a couple different methods (not just Brian's) on different Expy's and F150's and still broke off several that I needed the extraction tool to bring out the plugs. Brian's methods seemed to cause the least amount of breakage, but I still broke some that way.
