A little while back our daughter and son-in-law had their godmother and I let him play cars with the box. These have ever been mine and our children.
In between, a Hotwheels caught my attention when cleaning up a tuned American van.
I decided to disassemble that thing, throw it in the brake fluid and see if I could make something out of it.
After a few days of brake oil and with an aluminum scourer, all paint was gone.
A little after scouring, some blackberries here and there, he was ready to be degreased and primed.
Wondering how that went with a spray can.





The spraying was better than first thought, yes





While the primer was drying, the other parts were examined.
The chassis, let's see what we are going to do with the original wheels. Red rims under an orange body, I do not know.



The window section is also red, but this was nicely smoothed in the front and the back and provided with a piece of dark window foil.





The interior was given a layer of satin black, also with the spray can.
Here we will paint some details later.



After a day of drying, it was time for a tan.
There it went wrong, after a first layer I discovered a place that was not well covered. So after a few drying times, a second layer was set up.
And that was not good, so the whole trade back in the brake fluid and we started again.
After a layer of primer, there was a layer of color. It had to be good in one go and that was it this time.

In the meantime, I had stumbled across that whole box with matchboxes, Hotwheels and everything else. Searching for something with nice wheels that were usable. Sure enough, the luck was on my side and I could still dismantle one.
On the left the original wheels, on the right the new one.



It was now important to get everything in place so that they hit all 4 of the ground.
The front ones were somewhat smaller and had to go deeper into the chassis.
After some fiddling, the front axle also had to be shortened because of too wide, this is the result



Then it's time for a dry-fit

Exhaust was drilled out and the bottom layer for the rear lights was also fitted. (Molotow Chrome)



Meanwhile I started on the inside with the first details, namely the seatbelts



Chassis was colored a bit and some dry brushed.



Rear lights and exhaust got their color



Base color applied, details get their final color



And that is how the body looks after 2 layers of varnish

Everything has hardened enough, I'm going to finish it

We are going to make some detail.
We will install a "window net" on the driver's side.





Then painted the inside satin-black, as well as the radiator grille and headlight units.





After that the fire extinguisher and pressure tank have been painted red, unfortunately we do not see that afterwards :?

Then everything could be merged.



Then the lamps in the front were colored with a chrome marker. Also put a dry-brush on the radiator grille.



Also around it was some dry-brushed at the bottom, to get a worn look because it is so low.
