What made GM make all "Pontiac Firebirds" V6's?

What were they thinking?

This is exactly what I thought was going to happen..Notice how none of those are "Pontiac Firebird"'s.....They're "Pontiac Firebird Formula's"...or "Pontiac Firebird Trans Ams".....GM made no v8 "Pontiac Firebird"

Well no..The designation "Firebird" without any appendix is the trim level. This is that same as the Toyota Supra and Toyota Supra TT. Saying they made no V8 fiebirds is the same thing as saying Toyota made no twin turbo Supra's. It's the trim and nothing else. Or the 300ZX and 300ZX TT. Or the Accord I4 and Accord V6. The Formula and TA and Firehawk are still Firebirds, just different trim levels. So they certainly DID make V8 Firebirds. And they labled them so everyone knew they were V8s too.

Actually..IF there IS A model called the "Pontiac Firebird" and no "Pontiac Firebirds" were ever V8 then I would be right...Saying a "Toyota Supra" doesn't apply, unless there was a model supra that had no designation on the model..Such as RZ...So if there is no such thing as a "Toyota Supra" Without any designation..then it would be safe to say there are no twin turbo "Toyota Supra's", but there are twin turbo Toyota Supra RZ's

---edit---

I just read some history on the Toyota Supra...And there were no Twin Turbo model "Toyota Supra's"...There were Twin Turbo model RZ's the SZ-R's and the 1990 "Twin-turbo-R's" the later models of the A70 Supra..

what are you on about? First you say some rubbish about no V8 Firebirds yes they were as pointed out by Self then you make yourself look dumb by posting the exact same stupid concept to the Supra. Please refrain from posting things like this, because this is a racing forum and not a 'i contradict myself' forum

.

Yeah why the hell are you asking this here? There is a Pontiac forum.

Like what has been said all Trans Ams, Formulas, Trans Am GTA's, Turbo Trans Ams, Firehawks, are Firebirds. On my registration for the GTA it says Model: Firebird. That little bird symbol on my Trans Am? A Firebird. Nuff said.

F-Bodies have always had the option of a 6-cylinder since they started just like Mustangs.

I thought the WS6 edition had 325 HP, and the T/A had 315?

I was going by memory, I don't really remember. I did learn though, from blkcamaro I think it was, that the SS and Ws6 are available with anywhere from 325-345 horsepower depending on your options. Either way, this is the most useless thread ever...Especially since you're wrong

Oh my god, you just can't fathom the concept can you? Ok, Self I know YOU'RE a reasonable person. So tell me, is the such a car as a "Pontiac Firebird"... Not a Pontiac Firebird formula Not a TA not a WS6 not any of that..Just a "Pontiac Firebird"

O M G, can't you let it go? This is a lame and useless thread. You could say this about any car company, they all have different trim models with different options.

No you couldn't. This isn't a question of "Trim models" this is a question of why, since they have 5 versions of the CAR choose to make the 1 V6 Version the only one that carries the original name.
