82 El Camino Vacuum Hoses

Does anyone know where I can find a diagram of the vacuum hoses in a 1982 El Camino, 3.8L V6 231cid? I'm fine paying a few bucks for a service manual, I just don't know of any reputable sources. Thanks!

eBay has a bunch of shop manuals. Might try a years subscription to AllData. http://alldatadiy.com/. Try your local library for a shop manual.

This might be of interest:

https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...-El-Camino.pdf

You might find that it is a 229 Chevrolet V-6, or a 262 V-6, and not a 231 Buick V-6. There are substantial differences, but it could be any one of many engines. I had an '80 Malibu wagon with the 229 driveline.

Re: 82 El Camino Vacuum Hoses

Your engine is a 229 and not a 231. Both are 3.8 and both were offered by GM at the same time, however there is a distinction. The 229 is actually based on the Chevy small block 305, where the 231 is a Buick design engine. They will use different vacuum diagrams.
