Jas Motorsport - Castrol Honda NSX GT3 1/24 - Spa24 h race 2018

Last week we had a very nice classical race in Spa. Their 24 hours.
I want to build the Honda NSX gt3 in castrol colors.
It is the same body used by Acura in usa with many many differnet liveries. For family feeling I will build the Castrol car, that made this race also with living legend ex formula 1 driver Riccardo Patrese.

the car is this:




I said family feeling cause this car is made by Honda Jas Motorsport, a company I worked back in 2006. Many good friends there still at today after many years, so i will make THEIR car

so everything will start from the stunning model of the street supercar done by tamiya. Model is quite hard to find but amazing in quality, despite similitude, for my project I think I can use...neither a 30% of the body carrosserie



so lets get started...

wheels are another challenge. From a first look they look ordinary OZ 18.. so i took the ones from fujimi mclaren mp4-12c. All die cast arpound use this wheel...


so maybe the nice resin set from hobby design can be useful (also cause there is no other oz wheels around..)


and will use a set of tires coming from Tamiya mercedes AMG.
Being same class car and racing in the same races and period I will use as much as i can details coming from this wonderful kit.

and this is the real wheel..


...but as u can see, the OZ mounted has ...only 9 spocket and not 10....so no way to use what already exist on the market...

the nice of internet is that everything seems so easy...
so here the body done and a first layer of grey paint to see imperfections, still many, to fix soon...

























this grey gives me at once the idea on where to opeate to fix issues..not so many i see honestly





and here a nice view with other specials...so nice to have those cars in my hands..



time to create rear hatch


test fit with 18 oz rims. those are coming from the mp12C, and they are 10 spocket. i will not use those rims. The tire is from AMG gt3 tamiya.


and the real 3d printed rim arriving soon. 18 inch, 9 spocket oz gt3

side vents also done. I used part of clear plastics from the kit.
Second level of primer applied. I think is already better...

I'm curious:

It's obvious that when painting the body, first paint the white, followed by the green and the red last.

But what about the grill? You've painted it before the body. Is there a method here?

I think this is just a part molded in black plastic.

Yes Alex is right. The black front grill is just temporary up to see the front look of my model compared to all the pictures of the actual racecar. Still finishing the body but I think I am 99% there...

I had a great help from the friends I still have working in the Jas company. Despite what I found around simply googling Porsche , for this Acura I didn’t find any technical info . It was critical to make my work their help.

.... and of course during my last holes drilling I made a mistake and i copied an American imsa racer... with the air lift plug on the left side of the back, when the Italian car used a n spa has this on the right..

No this is no problem...
