Window Motor/Regulator
I see where you can buy the complete assembly or just the motor. Does anyone know if you can replace the motor leaving the assembly in the door or does the entire assembly have to come out?

Re: Window Motor/Regulator
Since the whole thing is just bolted in, it's easier to remove the whole regulator/with motor, and then replace the motor.....
Funny GM does not give a procedure for replacing the motor, just the whole regulator... I usually see the cable/regulator gear go before the motor, maybe that's why they change the whole thing....big difference in price though.... |

Re: Window Motor/Regulator
Update: Did all the testing and all switches work and get power down to the motor. So ordered a motor. Plugged the new motor in prior to install and it would only operate one direction. Tested the switches again and all good. Then all of a sudden the motor wouldn't operate at all but switches showed 12v to the motor both up and down. So used a battery charger and tested the new motor and works. While fooling around testing again I happen to grab the harness out of door pillar into the door and the lock started to go haywire. Pulled by the rubber cover and WTF. Pic shows what I found. Don't know how the switches tested.
