Trabant 601S

Hello to all!

After finishing that eight year project had to start another (actually three, but this is the one that is proceeding fastest). It is Revell's Trabant from the last days of DDR.

Began priming with Stynylrez.

Then a layer of Inspire's silver that is normally used as a base coat for candy, but can also be used under light colors.

Followed by Zero's green which is actually base coat for Lamborghini's Verde Artemis, the same I used for my Mini Cooper.

And of course Zero's 2K clearcoat.

Then started the interior, the dash and door panels.

Seats and carpet.

And finally glued them together.

Next will be the engine compartment, stay tuned.

Re: Trabant 601S

A Trabbi with a Lambo paint. That's nice!

Yes, half a Lambo, because the color will be missing the blue candy, that a Lambo will have on top of that green base.

Re: Trabant 601S

Got the "power plant" nearly completed. Missing battery, brake master cylinder and ignition coils and some other small pieces. And of course the fuel tank. Wonder how many Trabbis burnt while filling the tank?

Re: Trabant 601S

I would call the chassis done, at least she is on four wheels now. Revell has done wonderful details to the kit, even includes a tow hook. Just had to add a newspaper from the correct era to the back seat

Re: Trabant 601S

Preparing the body for marriage with the chassis. Foiling is complete, as are the "chromed" parts (suppose Trabi didn't have chrome but some aluminium or nickel coated parts).

Next have to add the black parts (mirrors etc.) and paint the bumpers, which I forgot to paint with the body.
