No Crank!

i've been recently experiencing a poor battery but i took my sweet time getting a new one, so I had to boost the truck a few times had some long cranks in the colder weather etc. I'm wondering if I could have burnt out my starter as I have replaced the battery and when I went to start the truck (2 days in -20C since it last ran) it still did the slow crank with the new battery! I had a friend come and boost me then it didn't crank and a quiet click sound, softer click than a previous starter problem with older truck. 04 silverado is what I have now. I've checked starter relays and fuses.

Welcome to AF. From your post I would suspect a bad battery cable or a poor connection. Cables can have corrosion under the cable covering that is unseen causing high resistance.

Bad starter . cranked it too long with bad battery or bad connections . boost truck what does that mean ? jump start by another vehicle or a high powered electrical jump starting tool.. one that applies higher volts ?

Boost, ya jump start off another truck. Cables and connectors seem real clean... side posts. I'll try reconnecting the battery though. I hear what I believe to be my fuel pump working so ecm should be fine?

last month I had a old battery in my truck . used this old battery because I wanted to use the new battery in my 20 ft boat . so as the weather temps dropped the old battery after sitting a few days caused the engine to crank slow and also even when it started the engine stumbled.. so I put the new battery in and all is normal now .spins fast and no stall or engine stumble.

I have a scan gauge in the truck so it shows the exact volts , it did drop below 10 volts on the crank with the old batt....

Problem solved. I did burn out the starter by not keeping up with battery maintenance... trucks running now. Thanks for the tips, be back next time!

good its running now..

when you place the key in ignition on the injectors open then with no start the cylinders get flooded..then when the jumpers are on longer cranking to clear out the fuel so a delayed start.

possible the starter solenoid contacts are burned up / melted due to the low battery power. when the cold hits like below 10 deg F best install a trickle charger . this will keep the battery warmer so when it is needed more power and because it is warm it will quickly take the alternator charge ..less stress on battery extreme cold/hot does the damage ..
