My husband wants to buy me a 2003chevy Monte Carlo for 3,000 and it has 147,786 miles on it, is this a good deal

The W bodies are fairly reliable, minus transmissions that can crap out at any given moment. The biggest issue you have to look out for is rust though.

It might be a good deal.
Basically most of the time mileage cars does not create any impact.
You should firstly check for its condition like rust, does it has any engine issues, does it has any problems with gear box, is there any issues with licks etc.

Try to find out the inspection sheet of the car or auction sheet of the car.
Then you will find the exact car condition and you will also know if there is any accident record or repair history as these things sometime hard to locate at the first glance.
