2000 Mercury Sable Cranks But Won't Start

I just replaced my starter on my 2000 mercury sable and it only cranks but it won't turn over prior to that it had been sitting for 6 months. When it went out i knew it was the starter but I had 2 cars so I didn't worry about it until now. I went And got the battery charged and it still didn't start. Do I have the starter hooked up wrong ?

If you had the starter hooked up wrong you'd have some melting wires, smoke, etc. You need to determine whether it's a spark or fuel delivery issue.

I doubt fuel filter. 6 months sitting is not very long. Try some starting fluid, it if fires up then fuel delivery problem.
If it doesn't, suspect spark.
