97 Tahoe Steering Problem

My steering does not "bounce back" to a center position after making a right turn. It just stays in the turned position until i manually center the wheel. Left hand turns operate normally. My local mechanic replaced a sensor $160....but didn't address the problem.

Any ideas?

I wish I had an answer for you but I think your mechanic ripped you off for the attempted repair. I changed the sensor myself on my '99 and the part ran me about $50, the job itself was fairly easy. It didn't take me more than 20 minutes from start to finish.

Well I solved it.... there is a speed sensitive steering fuse that was blown....total cost of repair 0.15 plus months of aggrevation!

Where did you find the fuse? In the fuse panel in the dash or under the hood?
