Build #3 2017 EP3 Civic Type R
This will be my third build for the year. #2 is a Honda Monkey and that will be posted in the bike section soon.
So, since I own an EP3. I thought I better build one. I wanted to do a replica of my car, but since Fujimi is the only one who makes this kit and it's of the 1st Gen I've put it in the too hard basket to convert the front headlights and front bumper to the facelift model (which mine is) although I find it funny this kit comes with the facelift Recaro seats. So on to pictures. As usual it's a mock up to check the suspension and for a Fujimi I was surprised that there is not need for any cutting or Glueing. The kit comes with factory spacers that if not used, give a good ride height. Naturally, the factory wheels will be replaced with my favorite wheel TE37. I only have 18s left, so 18s it is lol. ![]() ![]() I've also glued the front and skirts on and all have gone on well except for the rear skirt, which I will have to clean up with some putty. Also, the side skirts need capping as it looks a bit rough. I'll take some pics tomorrow. Cheers |

Re: Build #3 2017 EP3 Civic Type R
Those wheels suit the car and fit nicely but I like the twin spokes on the real thing and the box a lot
look forward to this build

Don't leave the spacer out or the shock will move up and down, Use the spacers between the bottom arm and the bottom of the shock this will lower it, use at the top of shock to raise the height

Ok, small update as I have been busy. I have boxed the Honda Monkey to finish at another date as I can't get this kit outta my head lol.
For some reason this kit comes with Recaro SPJJ seats when actually the first gen EP3 had Recaro SR3 seats. So I have copy cast the SP3 seats from the Fujimi Spoon Civic EK. Unfortunately the remaining Oomoo 30 I had has gone off in the pot 😫 so I have used Oyumaru as my mold material. This stuff is cool for simple mold making and I thought it would be cool to do a simple two piece top pour mold. Results were good. I might do this more often and just have a collection of masters rather than molds lol. So for those who haven't used this, here's how I do it. First up heat the Oyumaru in a cup of boiling water and push around the master. I also used molding bricks (lego is good too) so I have a nice square mold to stand. ![]() Allow the Oyumaru to cool right down, I suggest putting it on cling wrap as this time it stuck to my bench. Then you can transfer to the fridge/freezer to cool down even quicker. Then sprinkle some talcum powder so the second part of the mold doesn't stick. ![]() Heat up your second part of Oyumaru and push over the master. Making sure it gets all the way around. Except for the base of the seat, as this is where you will pour the resin. ![]() Once again, allow too cool. Then you can separate and remove the master. ![]() Dust the mold in talcum powder again as this will be your release agent. Tape the edges so the resin won't leak from the mold and secure with a elastic band. ![]() Mix your resin and pour. Unfortunately I forgot to take those pics. Allow the resin to cure and de mold. Voila! Clone complete lol.

Small update, painted the body with Honda NH0 automotive paint. Then did a clear coat with Tamiya clear mixed with Mr Hobby leveling thinners. This resulted in some solvent popping. So I sanded back with 2000 grit added the decals and used automotive acrylic clear. Came out ok, but not amazing. Oh well lesson learnt.
![]() Then masked and painted the grills, door and window trims. ![]() ![]() ![]() Then Bare metal foiled the tailights. ![]() ![]() Also used my circle cutter for the first time to mask the reversing light in the tail light lens. Really impressed with the result. ![]() ![]() ![]() As I forgot to paint the wing mirrors they got carbon and Fujimi forgot to add the morris to the chrome parts tree, so they got bare metal foil. ![]() Also removed the stock exhaust and added a Fujimi alloy Spoon style muffler. ![]() ![]() Now onto painting the interior and suspension. ![]() If only it was the facelift model 😕

Build #3 2017 EP3 Civic Type R
Small update, painted the seats, found the red was too dark when painted over the grey primer. So gave the other seat a coat of white which gave better results. Although in these photos the darker one looks better.
![]() Also decalled the interior. Disappointed that there is no stereo decal. ![]() Added the typer decal to the front grill (needs a semigloss coat) ![]() Also fitted the windows and tailights

Build #3 2017 EP3 Civic Type R
Almost finished. Seats painted flat red and Decals added.
Getting lazy as you won't see the backs of the seats. I painted the rear windows black for the JDM tint 😂 ![]() ![]() Painted the brakes clear blue over Tamiya silver to give the spoon look. ![]() ![]() Masked and painted the headlights with Alclad enamel black base for chrome ![]() ![]()

I've seen this kit come up on Ebay quite a bit and have always been tempted to buy it, your build looks really good.

Thanks, it's a typical Fujimi. Basic and not in correct proportions but not too bad. This build is not perfect, but it would never be completed if I try to be perfect. Lessons learnt, on to the next kit. Cheers |
