I just did an inspection on my BMW, and here it is what the guy told me:
"Found right side lower control arm bushing worn, and front struts and upper strut mount are worn. Suspect cadillac converter is somewhat plugged. Vehicle does not have good acceleration. Also noticed surpentine belts are worn along with the tensioners." Can anyone tell me if this is bad. and how much this would cost to repair. btw. this is a 1995 BMW 3.18i thx |

Well the first line has to do with your suspension so thats some thing you would want to get fixed in the near future. Also who is this guy who looked at your car doesn't sound very professional...Suspect, somewhat, Vehicle does not have good acceleration. Its a 318 its not suspost to be fast.

I just did my control arm bushes and front struts.. Try bavauto.com for bushes and struts.. about 230 USD for struts and 35 USD for bushes..
The labor was about another 200 USD at BMW indy mechanic... Huge change in the car tho.. drives like new.. Have your mechanic check ball joints too.. |

As far as your surpentine belts and the belt tensioner, I just had mine replaced, cost me about $300 for all of it. If your tensioner is bad, you will notice a rattling sound everytime the ac compressor kicks on.

Maintenance ain't cheap
I've replaced control arm bushings ball joints. Both are fairly pricey but will greatly improve handling. Check the websites mentioned in an earlier post and see if you can order the parts and have your mechanic install to save a few bucks (although they probably won't warranty the work this way). Good luck.
