I have a '90 Civic EX that I can't get to pass CA SMOG. I replaced the Catalytic Converter and Oxygen sensor last summer, but with the tighter restrictions I don't pass. Everything I read tells me to replace the EGR valve. But I can't find any diagrams to help me locate it or verify that it even exists. I have read conflicting information about Civics and EGR valves. One will say the engine doesn't have one and the other says it could be the problem.
Well, If anyone can give me some help I would appreciate it. I also plan to have my timing adjusted. That will help but I don't want to place all my bets on that taking care of the problem. A diagram or conformation that a EGR valve doesn't exist.

the new CA smog is ROUGH!! I was watching the news last night about that shit ... it costs like $80 too!!! damn
sorry I dont have any help for your problem but hopefully you can get everything all straightened out ... the civic DOES have an EGR valve and you might be getting a code 12 on your ECU
