New tranny issue? Maybe cop

Turn the car on this morning no issues. Drive to the first red light while sitting at the red light I start feeling what feels like a misfire. So I put the car in park at the red light and the "misfire" goes away. Put it back in Drive "misfire" seems to return. As I accelerate no misfire felt through 1st 2nd 3rd or 4th. When in 5th it returns while accelerating. This is whether under hard acceleration or light acceleration. At first I thought it may be a cop.
But based on me only feeling it at a sit still in gear and 5th I'm thinking it's a possible tranny issue. I have read some information but no definitive answers. Going to have codes checked should point me in the right direction if it is a cop. If not does this sound like a typical tranny issue?

I'd be leaning toward a CoP or spark plug issue as well. Assuming the check engine light hasn't come on yet, you may need to get in to the PEMS data to see if there are misfire counts on individual cylinders. It can show up there long before it triggers a diagnostic code since it's intermittent.

Rod. I have no codes. Would it be a misfire only and always at a sit still in gear and fifth but never 2,3,4th?

It's possible, but not a lot to go on without some datastream sensor values or PIDS data for individual cylinder misfire counts.

What year is your LS and which engine does it have?

Its 04 v6
Have some friends that work for ford.
They scanned it. Bad coil on cylinder 3.
Fortunately i have the metal intake manifold and its not leaking oil into the sp tubes like the plastic ones do.

Thank you for the update. Hopefully a new coil on cylinder 3 will take care of your issue!
