Small transmition problem :S
Just in case you can't see it, I have a 1995 Chrysler Eagle Vision. Nothin special about it except for the fact that it was previously used as a taxi (450 000 KM on it
)! The transmition has been replaced 75000 KM ago but the same problem keeps reoccuring. When ever you accelerate fast, (I'm guessing) the transmition makes one loud click sound. This only happens from the range of 0 to 50 km/h or so. What could be the problem, and how could I fix it. Keep in mind that the transmition started to fail at 350 000 km. :S So replacing this one would be costly.BTW, could I possibly replace this transmition with a standard? |

Chrysler LHs sedans (Chrysler Concorde, Eagle/Chrysler Vision, Dodge Intrepid, Chrysler 300M, Chrysler LHS) have the cab so far forward that (as Chrysler claimed) there isn't enough space for a clutch pedal. Even if you could find a way to mount a clutch pedal, what transmission would you use? The LH has a longitudinal transaxle and there are relatively few cars in the world who use this style gearbox in a front-drive car...and even fewer that have manuals offered. Find one of those that would fit would be extremely difficult.

WOW, I never knew that. :S lol. Well i can easily get the part if I need it but I'll keep that as a last resort. I'm kind of trying to repair than to replace.
It's rediculous though, kuz the transmition has only ran for 55 000 km according to my dad. I dunno why it's having this kind of problem at such low mileage! |

Was it really a brand new transmission from Chrysler? Or was it from a salvage yard, or was it a rebuild?

I LIED...Apparantly it's a rebuilt one but come-on! I can make a bike's shifter work for more than 55 000 km on my car :P (LOL, a lil exageration). I know that my dad's previous car had a rebuilt transmition and it ran fine. It's acceleration was perfect with the 4.0L engine

For being 3,500 pounds and longer than most cars it can still out perform a lot of them in every way. I have no complaints with mine thus far besides the owner that had the car before me.
As for the rebuild, it guess it all depends on who did it. All I know is that every engine and tranny that I've had rebuilt just doesn't last long. I prefer new, they come with warranties and last longer IMO. |

That's what I thought. The thing is, all transmitions come with a 100 000+ KM warranty. The thing is, this was used as a taxi, so it's 100 000 KM or 6 months (which ever one comes first). It has already passed 6 months, therefore the transmition isn't on warranty any more :S. Ohwell, I'm thinking that it could be something wrong with the electronics of the car. Possibly, the transmition chip. I'm hoping that if I get a Performance chip, it will help regulate the shifting of the transmition as they describe. Other than that, I just want one for the increase in power :P.
Would anyone know where I could get a Performance Chip for a 1995 Chrysler Eagle Vision? I appreciate everyone's help. |
