Talking There are other importers for the Skyline

I am looking to buy a Skyline to import into the US and have been reading all the post on the boards. Most have been helpful. I have seen Skylines in NY before Motorex opened up. I believe on of the first was Craig of Paisley, back in 96-97 he had a street legal R32. So I knew there had to be other places.

Anyway long story short, I found another place that legalized Skyline R32-R34's. I am trying to get prices on conversions and after 2 days of digging for DOT info I found it.

Based on all the info I have the GTS and GTR's conform about 90% to US DOT safety specs.

I also have specifics on what needs to be changed and what doesn't (about 90% of it doesn't need to be changed)

If the mods don't mid it being super long, let me know I'll post the info.

And it this has been posted before sorry!!

Here's a small bit:
As stated in the notice, the petitioner claimed that 1990-1999
Nissan GTS and GTR passenger cars have safety features that comply with
Standard Nos. 102 Transmission Shift Lever Sequence . . .
(based on comparison of components to those on comparable U.S.-
certified models, such as the Nissan 300ZX Turbo), 103 Defrosting and
Defogging Systems (based on engineering analysis and comparison of
components to those on comparable U.S.-certified models, such as the
Nissan 300ZX and 300ZX Turbo), 104 Windshield Wiping and Washing
Systems (based on engineering analysis and comparison of components to those on comparable U.S.-certified models, such as the Nissan 240SX, 300ZX, 300ZX Turbo, and Maxima), 105 Hydraulic Brake Systems (based on engineering analysis and comparison of components to those on comparable U.S.-certified models, such as the Nissan 300ZX and Maxima), 106 Brake Hoses (based on comparison of components to those on comparable U.S.-certified models and on visual inspection of
certification markings), 109 New Pneumatic Tires (based on visual
inspection of certification markings), 113 Hood Latch Systems (based on
comparison of components to those on comparable U.S.-certified models, such as the Nissan 300 ZX Turbo), 116 Brake Fluids (based on visual inspection of certification markings), 124 Accelerator Control Systems (based on engineering analysis and comparison of components to those on comparable U.S.-certified models, such as the Nissan 300ZX Turbo, which also utilize dual return springs, either of which is capable of closing the throttle when the other is disconnected),

Hope this helps everyone

No other company or independant person(s) are advertising they are able to comply and vin a Skyline in the States. Omega even states they can import one for you, (that is the easy part) but you would have to get it vinned yourself.

MotoRex was officially founded in 1998 but Sean Morris and company had been working getting the Skyline in before that and most likely had already won approval to do so at an earlier date.

What you have posted here is nothing more than the "substaincially similar to the US model " clause. You've not stated what needs to be changed over in order to comply the car. Guess work or assumptions are not acceptable in any fashion here. Give us viable data.

As a note for you the 300Z and Skyline are completely different chassis and share a few minor simularities.

What MotoRex has done is went further than anyone else. "We have had to go though all of the mandatory requirements for the DOT and EPA . Including crash testing , air bag testing , and OBD II to meet the Code of Federal Regulation requirements. Since Nissan did not perform any of these requirements , we have independently completed the research and development. The pricing reflects our cost of reseach and development." In order to protect our business interests, research and developmentcosts, the answer to this question is confidential. Some of the basic items that are changed are things such as US emissions, speedometer , crash structure , lighting , US VIN , warning , and information labels."
These are just some of the modifications and or adjustments made to the cars.

If you have more to add or can provide me with a link to information that will further substiate your claim pm me it. Otherwise please do not post assumptions here as it only rocks people up.

Do you know if the R32 was registered as a skyline or was it registered as some other car?

What is the name of the shop that you found that legalizes skylines?
