VW Golf IV

And here's my new project.

The rare VW Golf IV from Tamiya. A collectors item for the VW lovers! But since I got 3 of them in the pile, it would be time to build one!

The kit is very simplified, but I like these kind of kits for a quick build.

As you can see the original wheels are very boring. I found a nice set of Ferrari F40 wheels and stretchtyres from Scale Production. I think they look awesome, but I know it's not everyones taste. I like oldskool wheels on modern cars for some reason...

I think Samoa Orange will be a fresh color for the Golf.

Kris.

Re: VW Golf IV

Love those wheels. Always dreamt of having a set of Compmotives (similar to the F40s) on my MKV Rabbit.

Re: VW Golf IV

I haven't much done to this build, but so far I managed to prepared the body for primer. First I removed all badges and doorhandles on the rear doors. I also removed the indicatorlights on the fenders. Then I made a new badgeless grille from styrene.

And a few layers of Zero primer.

I also wanted a little bigger wheels. The F40 wheels looked very cool, but I think they look much better under the Lancia Delta Integrale in my stash.

So I didn't searched long for new wheels. My second option for this model were BBS RS 18'' from Hobby Design. The tyres are stretchtyres from Scale Production.

Re: VW Golf IV

Got it painted!

In matt finish it still look cool, but I wanted a high gloss finish. So I used Zero 2K.

Re: VW Golf IV

After polishing the body, I masked it off to paint the black for the airintakes and windowtrims. I also painted the windows and installed a few parts to the body. I modified the headlights cause I wanted to have black headlights instead of the boring chrome ones.

I also painted the BBS RS wheels. The centers were painted with Alclad Pale Gold and the wheels are painted Alclad Chrome. Tyres are Scale Production stretch tyres.

And I did some work on the interior. I used Sand Yellow from Vallejo Air. Seats from Scale Production and so are the magazines and the cap.

Only the chassis is left over now.....
