Question Car Probs!

HEY PEOPLE!, IM NEW HERE, THE SITE SEEMS TO BE PRETTY AWESOME AND IM HOPING THERES SOME PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP ME, I HAVE A 1989 CAMARO RS, ITS FUEL INJECTED, AND ABOUT A FEW WEEKS AGO, I WAS TRYIN TO LOOK COOL, AND DID A BURNOUT FOR MY BUDIES, AND MY "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATELY AFTER, AND HAS BEEN FLASHING LIKE CRAZY EVER SINCE, SINCE THEN, MY CAR IS AT AN ABNORMAL IDLE, INSTEAD OF IDLEING AT SAY..700 RPMS, IT IDLES AT ABOUT A THOUSAND IN DRIVE, AND IN PARK AND NEUTRAL IT IDLES SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER THAN THAT, AND ITS REALLY HARD TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE (DUE TO THE HIGH RPMS?), ALSO IT OVER HEATS QUICKLY AFTER ABOUT 3 MILES, THE TEMP IS AT 220, AND ABOUT 10-15 MILES, ITS CLOSE TO REDLINE, WHEN STOPPED JUNK STARTS BUBBLEING BACK UP FROM THE RADIATOR TO THE COOLANT TANK, EVEN I KNOW THATS NOT TOO GOOD!!, TONIGHT I WILL REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT, ENGINE COOLANT, AND OIL, SEE IF THATS HELPS, I KNOW ITS ALL STEMMING FROM MY COOLANT SYSTEM, BUY FROM EXACTLY WHERE? ALSO, FOR THE IDLE, MIGHT I NEED TO REPLACE MY TPS? PLEASE HELP, I KNOW IT WAS A LONG ENTRY, THANKS FOR READING!![email protected]

Idling problem sounds like an o2 sensor, but could be the TPS. My friend has a 90' camaro and his car started overheating cuz the fan relay switch was bad and the fan wasn't kicking on. Just a thought.

the vacuum leak in the manifold could explain the high rpm's and some of the overheating. check your oil, sometimes a blown manifold gasket can let coolant seep down and into the oil pan. with a vacuum leak, the O2 sensor richens up the mixture, and could cause high idling.
